In Firebird 1.5 it will be possible to specify "server-side aliases" in a file
aliases.conf, where you can put entries like "mydb=f:\databases\mydb.gdb". This
allows you to connect from the client with "myserver:mydb" and the engine will
look up the actual path from the .conf file.
(but note Fb1.5 is not finished and not yet ready for production!)
