Slightly different syntax for (I think, though uncertain whether it was
introduced in IB 6.0.1 or 6.5) SELECT FIRST ... SKIP ...

You shouldn't release any system untested. If it works fine in IB6.0, use
that in a production environment until you feel pretty confident your FB
version works equally well. Having said that, I doubt you will get into
much trouble upgrading to FB. We went from IB 5.6 to FB 0.9.4 without much
fuss at all (though our system isn't very complicated). Basically, I think
FB1 is a lot of bug fixes (some which may break existing code like
ambiguous queries) and whether you go IB -> FB1 -> FB2 or wait and go
directly IB -> FB2 would probably make little difference - it's like
whether you should carry all three bags with you in one go or go twice.
