I can't understand why the english speaking people are suddenly on their hind legs, when someone's name ends with letters that may mean something in their language.
-itch is a typical family name ending for Russians and other Slavian countries.

Have you considered that your names may mean something funny or offensive in german on japanese or portuguese?

Maybe there should be change in group registration. Applicant send subscription email and if his/her name pleases everyone then account is opened. If someone doesn't like that name then applicant must get new passport.

P.S. To give a more funnier example... In estonian when you give toast for drink ("to your health"), you say "TerviSEKS". That causes always lot's of sniggering from foreigners.
