Subject RE: [ib-support] Connecting to a remote server using phone line

Thanks Gerhard for your suggestions. So I should learn basics of doing peer
to peer comminication with delphi (in example how to open the phone line
when a call is made) and should learn how to set dns and other network
options, after doing that I should be able to connect to my server as if my
server is in my lan. Am I correct? And one more request is there any
specific location for finding those locations you know?

TIA

after connecting your server per phoneline, peer to peer, not over internet,
you and your server are members of a network, so you can do anything,
what you can do, if your server is in your lan.
if your DNS doesn't translate the servername, take the ip-# ...

p.e. you can make a BDE-Alias ..,
or register this server in IBConsole, or the other IBAdmintools.

If you go over Internet (ISP), normally you have a lot of problems,
Firewall, that didn't support the IB-Service Port, etc. etc.
