The main reason that my company went with IB Objects was the tools
available at the time and it offered the best usability and flexibility for
Interbase(we started using it when IB 6 was in beta back in May
2000). We've been with IB Objects since then. We made comparisons between
IB Express and IB Objects and IB Objects came on top for
performance. Delphi 6 wasn't available at the time and we still develop in
Delphi 5, as we don't see a reason to upgrade yet.

Also, I don't know if dbExpress will support Firebird when the interface
will change, because it will eventually(but time will tell). If your
development requires you to be able to connect multiple RDMS without having
to create multiple versions, then dbExpress is the way to go. Otherwise
give IB Objects a try and you'll see a difference with dbExpress(BTW I did
try Delphi 6 and dbExpress) with the ease of setting up a connection.

But it all comes down to one thing. Use what you feel comfortable
using. But, it doesn't hurt to try 3rd party components. Also, IB Objects
has a trustware licence(read the details on the website for more
details). And, IB Objects has a great support via a Yahoo Group.

Hope this answers your question!

Have a nice day.
