Hi, All,
Anybody knows that database does not like incorrect
shutdown of system or hardware (for example turning off power or
system restart via Reset Button etc.). It causes various
corruptions of database structure i. e. orphan pages, corrupted
indexes, lost data pages, ... bla-bla-bla.
Good. And what about IB database corruption during
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT explotation?
My customer has six similar configurated servers. During
4-monthes explotation IB 6 under Windows NT 4
Service Pack 6 (6 places x 4 monthes = 24 monthes totally)
I got 7 failures.
- 4 of them causes by incorrect turning the hardware or hardware failures.
- 1 case I in doubt
- 2 case certainly THERE WERE NO VISIBLE REASONS.
Just unexpected failure. GFIX displayed several errors in db structure.
Did somebody meet something like described?
Regards.
