Subject IBConsole and restoring
Author Darin Bawden
Hello everyone,
This is my first email to y'all, so please be gentle ;)
Anyway, here's my dilemma. I have a Linux box with Interbase 6.01
superserver open source installed. It works fine, starts at startup. I
don't have any real complaints. However, I am having a problem. I'm
trying to restore a GBK file, located on the Linux box in the directory
where I want to restore it to. On another computer, using Windows 2000,
I'm running IBConsole. I can connect to the server and database just
fine. However, when I try to restore my backup, to override the existing
GDB file, it looks as though it works. But, when I go into the database
using either IBConsole or our program to access the data, it's showing me
the old data.
Under Database\Maintenance\Backup/restore, I choose restore. It
already gives me the correct server IP address. I choose "File", then type
in a file name of "/directory/backup.gbk" For the database, I choose the
correct server and the correct alias. However, I've had to retype the
filename path. It gives me "/directory/database.gdb" I retype it to
"\directory\database.gdb" and set the "Overwrite" command to "True" After
clicking "OK" it goes through the procedures of restoring the file. But
when I go into it, it's the same old data. Can anyone tell me what I am
doing wrong?

thanks for the help
