What distribution of IB are you trying to install? The only one I know of for FreeBSD is the FirebirdCS-0.9.4 one.

Yes, it is what it is designed for.

There are install notes coming up but, in the meantime, the following install notes on Dmitry Kuzmenko's site should be of assistance:

"I have installation instructions for FreeBSD 4.x from Ravshan Uraimov.

http://ib.demo.ru/V6/install_FirebirdCS-0.9-4.FreeBSD.txt

The first part is in english, other two in russian (different codepages).
I must note that LibCrypt with DES must be installed in FreeBSD.
p.s. we have done the same on our FreeBSD computer, and got a success."
