Hi,

we have solved the problem - it wasn't caused by Firebird/InterBase.
It was an incorrect entry in hosts file on the linux server.
First line stated:
127.0.0.1 localhost sqlko
....
....

Simply erasing "sqlko" from hosts made the problem go away.
We have another Linux server on the network which provides DNS, so "ping
sqlko" returned different IP address when run on "sqlko" itself and on
other network PCs.

Shame on us ...

P.S. Everything was working OK for quite a long time until we tried IB
events yesterday, so it took a few hours before we checked probably the
most important setting :-(
