Helen,
it's just a *relative* path string, and as such conforms to the MS-DOS
specification. Examples of valid path strings:
myserver:foo\bar.gdb
\\myserver\d:current.gdb
I have heard of people that actually *needed* to specify relative paths,
and of course all is well if alla clients conform to the same
convention.
I would like to know if the problem arises under Unix if one uses
symlinks. Perhaps the solution is for IBServer to open the file in
exclusive mode.
