Lynda,
This is an IB Objects question... The answer lies in the OnError events of various objects where you can intercept any database error with your own custom error messages. It's worth looking in ib_constants.pas too, where several hundred error messages are already defined as constants.
There is a specialised support list for IB Objects - join at http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/ibobjects.
