Why are you running X on a server?

Did you try to kill the X process, if so, did that cure the problem? I have
probably had two 'crashes' in the last two years that required a re-boot (I
was patching the kernal with both), so it would have to be pretty server to
hang the whole machine. X crashes on the otherhand are quite common.

I guess it is to do with you X set-up, as FB or IB has nothing to do with X.

every other day when using 'X', but as this is nothing to do with FB/IB, and
you wouldn't run X on a server, there is know problem.

FB is at leasts as stable as other versions of Interbase, both open source an
commercail. I have had no problems in a production environment with FB.

If you want it more unstable and slower, then go for it <g>

It seams you problem is with something other than FB. What do you logs say?
