use Win2000 if you use the BDE for database access. I think it works
fine using IBO or other connectivity tools.
My advice is to NOT use IB for NetWare at all. If you want to store
network files on the server or use it for print servers, NetWare is
great. If you need a database or application server, NetWare is a
joke (IMHO of course).
We have been IB VARs since 1997. IB for NetWare has been a nightmare
for us. The problem is even worse because most NetWare MIS guys want
to run everything off of one server.
If you end up using IB for NetWare, you ***MUST*** set it up as a
dedicated (InterBase ONLY) server. Since you will have to put in a
dedicated server anyway, so you might as well just make it a Linux or
NT or Unix box.
Bill Karwin used to always tell me to just put in a Linux box at our
NetWare client sites and call them machine name "NetWare". He said
they'd never know the difference and it would be much more reliable
and significantly faster.
Another reason I would suggest avoiding it is that I have heard of no
plans for an IB 6 NetWare port. There is no future for IB for
NetWare.
