We've been through all the usual stuff - garbage collection, bad OAT,
too little temp space, etc. None of them seem to be the problem. I
don't remember asking about memory usage or cache size. The first would
be an interesting symptom, the latter is a smoking gun. At least one
of the databases I looked at ran best with a cache size of about 750
pages and died every afternoon with a cache of 10,000.

Failing that, if anyone can get me a working example, I'd be glad to
try to figure it out.
