Just a couple of comments about passwords in Interbase...
I don't usually use spaces in passwords, but a particular user did... the
result was a little surprising...
It seems as though you can use spaces in a passwords when setting it, and
Interbase (or IB Console) excepts it with no apparent problems... however,
you can not then use that password to log in to Interbase...
I have had a look through the documentation and (after a harder look!) did
find in one of the books it mentioned that you can't use spaces... though IB
Console is obviously not aware of this...
I could not find any other mention of valid or invalid characters in a
password... the only other mention (in a couple of the books) is the 8
character limit, which is another issue altogether... is that likely to
change in future versions??.
Just wondering if anyone knows about other characters that should not be
used in a password so that our app (since Interbase or IB Console doesn't)
can look out for them.
Regards
Colin
