I know that you will answer this... That's why I started with a 'hehehe'...

But, since we started, how you call this:

> A predefined table consisting of a session identifier (aka a gen_id
> assigned to the session) and a value.

a) A predefined table that it's needed just for a temporary job?
b) A predefined table that it's needed just for a limitation of IB/FB IN to
1500 values?
c) A predefined table that it's needed just for using with ugly statements
like 'IN( 1500+ values )'?

This was really an uggly example. I don't know how a user will be selecting
more than 1500 rows manually...

But, the question remains:

- Why do I need temporary tables?

Ops! I mean to say:

- Hehehe. Why do I need temporary tables?

;)
