any difference. So what IS the network? 10BaseT - 100BaseT -
or something else.
10BaseT does affect speed, but since ( from experience ) it
affects Access even worse I doubt that is the problem.
The second thing to check is how it gets IP addresses. We
have ours 'hard coded' into the HOSTS file, so there is no
lookup time. But we also strip every other protocol off the
98 machines, so that only TCP/IP is listed.
As a check, what happens if you use IB_SQL to connect - this
should be quick to make the connection, if not we are
looking for a windows network problem. I've seen a lot of
them <g>
