FWIW the error is caused by a call to isc_database_info with a couple of
particular atrributes (I have posted which ones in the IBO list). I
don't know about Sandeep, but my problems are definately not caused by
trying to *change* anything, just reading status info.

I ain't able to fix anything in Firebird, but I am at disposal to
beta-test this one.
