Agreed. Who would have thought that NT4,5,6 would all be plagued by the same problem. I'd hope that they'd fix it, but traditionally, MS never fixes stuff like this.

I've been having similar problems with other apps, now that I think of it. Is it possible to force set the affinity for all apps?

Well, it actually is a MS problem. It just depends on what level you are
viewing the problem. You see, if the OS claims to support multiple CPUs
then it should do that without any special settings being required. So it
is Mricosoft's lame handling of multiple processors is the root of the
whole mess. The affinity setting is just a workaround bandage and no one
considers it an ideal fix.
