What Operating System are you using?
Is TCP/IP actually installed?
Can you 'ping' the machine you are trying to use as a
server?
'Alias' is not acceptable in Interbase, that is a BDE
concept. You will need to use the full path on the server.
i.e. - server:c:\datadir\database.gdb
