My thanks to all who responded. I'll convert this portion to IBO and see if
it makes a significant difference. (The app using Paradox tables stored
locally as well, so I can't get completely away from the BDE. At least, not
in this round.)
This problem was actually brought up by the marketing people. A competing
product connects significantly faster than we do, giving the prospective
customers the impression that theirs is better. (I have no idea who the
competitor is, or what their back end is.)
I still wonder about that pattern "1518+1518+1246" which occurs so often.
Does anyone know what this may be?
When I have results, I'll post them. However, it won't be until Monday at
the earliest. Theoretically, I'm not even here today; I've already worked
all the hours this week that Navco will pay me!
