Subject run interbase server 6.01 from CDRom
Author Daniel.Zientek@web.de
Hello ib-support commmunity,

I've got the following problem. I try to run the Interbase server
6.01 only from cdrom. I took all files from the installation-
directory of an usual pc-installation (NT 4.0) and put them on a cd (
The isc4.gdb on the cd-rom was set on „read only = true"). Then I
tried to run the cd on a pc (Windows NT 4.0) where no Interbase-
Server was installed. Before executing the IBConsole I copied the
gds32.dll into the server bin-directory and ran the instreg-file
under DOS to set the installation path in the registry on the cdrom
drive. Then I started the IBConsole from cdrom. When I tried to
register „Local server" I got the following error message:

„Error logging into the requested server."
„Can not attach to password database."

Then I tried to make a „Diagnose Connection" to „Local Server".
As database I specified the isc4.gdb on the cdrom. The Result of
the „Diagnose Connection" was:

„An InterBase error has occured while attaching."
„Error – operating system directive CreateFile failed."
„Zugriff wurde verweigert."
