Subject Re: [firebird-php] good news everyone : Firebird driver will be back in php 5.3.4

PHP community does not care about Firebird because we are too few developers using PHP and Firebird in the PHP universe.

Here we work with PHP Object Oriented via PDO mostly using Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL

PHP PDO is more and mored used:
http://drupal.org/node/134580
http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/includes--database--database.inc/group/database/7
http://drupal.org/requirements/pdo
http://linux.fjfi.cvut.cz/~tomik/personal/?p=65
http://rathercurious.net/

When one client requires Firebird (generally coming from a Delphi environment) is very complicated to us because the PHP PDO driver for Firebird is traumatic. Then, we suggest Java as an alternative to keep Firebird and migrate a Delphi Client/Server application to a web solution. Java makes this solution much more expensive.

It's really a pity because many people want to run away from MySQL after Oracle has bought Sun and those people can not count on Firebird because of the lack of reliable PHP drivers.

What's the current status of this? Will Firebird driver be included or not?
