It is just bloody annoying that the driver has been disabled in the PHP5.3
windows builds when there is no 'technical' reason for not including it. It is
purely a 'political' one that it is not currently available as part of the
PHP5.3 windows distributions :(

I've built it myself in the past, and it should not take long to run a 5.3.3
build ... with all the MySQL integrated crap disabled ... but finding a few
hours to get back to it is the problem. All my Linux boxes have 5.3.3 on, but
the windows ones are still 5.3.1 I think.
