Let me take an example. Mysql for example also said the same thing, it
works with any crt, any version, etc. The last releases of mysql has
put PHP in the top 100 bugs on Windows due to a crash in libmysql.
This crash happens when PHP is used with MySql's binaries instead of
the library we provide. So yes, in an ideal world I would agree with
Milan. Sadly we are not in an ideal world (yet).

That's why we (Milan and I last year in this list) decided to go with
firebird 1.x for VC6 and firebird 2.x for VC9.
