In that case, think if you do not want to use Java... it might be a little
harder in the beginning, but it will pay off...

You will need to learn a new language anyway, and you are much better off with
Java than with PHP.

Jaybird is a good JDBC driver, and of course you can and should use an OR-
Mapper (Hibernate, JPA,). And Eclipse rocks for J2EE development...
