No I don't understand. I build applications using Builder5 and Builder6 which
have no trouble talking to any of the FB clients, new or old. As long as the
interface rules are followed there should be no problem with how the client is
built, as long as it runs in windows. I've never had to worry about M$
compilers and I've never used them.
php_interbase just talks to the client interface .... be it Interbase or
Firebird and the existing PHP builds simply connect to any of the current
windows clients.
Most new users need to install the full Firebird package, so they have a
suitable client already installed.

What am I missing?
