the upgrade went quite fine after i have saved my config and database

If you have no modifications installed you can update by first
changing the board template back to prosilver (you will need to
manually update custom styles yourself after).
Then download the full phpBB 3.0.2 download package.
Extract it and then delete from the extracted folder the config.php.
Using your ftp client upload all files replacing you existing ones, so
you are effectively replacing all your phpBB3 files (except the
config.php) with fresh copies from the full download.
Then you need to update the database by running the
install/database_update.php in your web browser via its URI
Once done delete the install folder from inside your board folder.
