'preferred' database is PostgreSQL or MySQL.
[Alan McDonald] yes if you're stuck with that necessity you have little
choice. I don't give my clients the choice and I'm happy with the results.
That said, PHP5 may offer a path to speed, as John is looking to making
ADOdb an extension ;)
[Alan McDonald] Hmm, CMS's like Mambo have a lot of work to do to get PHP5
to work with it. They too are going over to ADOdb for their version 5. I
just shudder a little when I think ADOdb+Mambo even on the fastest hardware,
it's gonna be slowwwww. I doubt if PHP5 will return the speed lost by 100s
of K of classes loaded for every page delivered.
In contrast, my custom FB pages with ezSQL have only 24k of classes to load
each time. They're fast, especially on *nix. They compare with small
straight html type pages in delivery.
[Alan McDonald] I'm afraid I'm going thru my "lean - FB only - forget
generic" phase.

OS, so I would not expect Daniel's update to be any different. Since
phpBB was native MySQL, I would suspect he has done a 'find & replace'
and then tidied the SQL.
I'm interested in a copy, since phpBB is already a module in TikiPro,
but will not currently install on many engines - but it's not urgent :)
