How difficult would it be to get ibase_connect (and _pconnect) to return
'NULL' when trying to connect to a non-existent database. I'm having fun
with a number of installer situations where the fact that I can't handle
the failure nicely, while checking to see IF the database already exists.

That is unless there is a better way of trapping the problem in PHP :)
