Alas, such is the rub with much of the open source, freeware,
shareware etc. available on the web. Here today says nothing about
tomorrow. Fortunately Firebird is well established, stable and most
probably here for the long haul.
While grabbing something off the web that seems to do what you need
is tempting and often works out OK you need to balance the
advantages of using someone elses "unknown" code or just do it
yourself. In the case of scheduled backups of your DB the solution
is so easy to implement that why not just do it, have your
own "known" code and feel secure that you have the control. Just me
rattling on, I like to do it myself so I know what I've got.
