Thanks greg hamilton,
> I've used Eclipse successfully with Jaybird and Firebird. However, if you're used to the designer in delphi, you'll have to code alot more. As former head of the Delphi Twin Cities User group I always recommended using the designer as little as possible but few fellow Delphi developers agreed with me. Also I was used to C++ so the switch to java was fairly easy. There are alot of tutorials on Eclipse out there so if you have the time you can get up to speed. Eclipse is free and robust but not as gui friendly as Delphi.

Well, since u r more experienced in Eclipse-Java with background of Delphi
I hope ur suggestions will be very much useful to me.

Will u plz guide/comment/give alternatives, links on following points.

1> While shifting to lava we would like to move all our Logic from SPs of FB
to some middle tier like JBoss-Hibernate combination so that we are
Database independent but still keep on using Firebird since we love
it and
Whenever any client insists upon specific RDBMS/DBMS then try to use
that.
2> Develop in Eclipse's RCP platform stand alone application as far as
possible with Visual Editor for form design. I do agree with u that
we have
to get rid of habit of using GUI IDE but we feel that using VE will
in between
pure hand coding and GUI IDE like Delphi.
3> Develop using web tier whenever Web application is needed. Here we had a
debate whether we should have mixed application platforms or we
should have
Uniform Browser based application ? I personally feel that we should
have mixed
Platform development with RCP application capable of connecting to
Middle Tier
may be over LAN or Net.

Thanks and Best Regards
