I checked and the correct line is there for xinetd.
However xinetd seems to shut itself down sometimes and
I am perusing the logfile trying to figure why it is
sick.

In any case, since you are running the same config
(perhaps not Mandrake Linux, but...), I will assume
there is something strange in our xinetd files and dig
deeply.
