I would say this is Tomcat bug and should be fixed there. Try to ask
in Tomcat's support group. Notation we use is quite common.

Unfortunatelly I do not use Tomcat, so I have no more ideas. Maybe
Tomcat allows to pass arbitrary parameters into driver?
