If you have not done so already, you might try building from the most recent
sources. Last Wednesday, Roman kindly submitted a patch I wrote that should
include more detail in DB connection failures. Previously, that message
would be generated from any number of lower-level errors. The patch
includes the message from the nested error in an attempt to give better
diagnostics.
