I'm working with mobile devices in parallel with desktop and it strikes me as
pointless providing many of the 'applications' on mobile devices? They all have
good browsers, and with care many of the 'applications' can simply be provided
as web pages? In which case Firebird IS on the server and not on the device.

Having problems from time to time with 'no-broadband' areas, the advantage of
stand alone apps does appear, but any data entered locally has to be flushed
back to the main server sometime, so do you need a full copy of Firebird
locally? The current 'fix' simply runs on local webserver stack on a laptop in
the vehicle and the tablet links to that ... but no doubt a real need will come :)
