Hello, firstly I would like to put into context my next few paragraphs. I am a huge fan of Firebird and sincerely appreciate the unbelievable work of the people behind it and all its related projects.
With regard to the points made above / below or wherever they may appear in this user interface!! I too find the Yahoo mailing list interface horrible. Helen always asks us not to top post, but you have to jump through hoops with Yahoo to include a quote and get your own text underneath it.
Also to post this message I had to sign into Yahoo (which I only do once in a blue moon) and of course had forgotten my password which entailed three further attempts to enter a new one which must never have been used before guaranteeing that I will forget it next time!!
I am far from young and hip, but forums are just so much better. I am a big fan of wxWidgets and their forum is excellent see http://forums.wxwidgets.org/.
Apart from that I am more than happy with the 2/3 year release cycle of Firebird because what I need from a database is *stability*. That said I am eagerly awaiting the new security features and C++ API in 3.0.
I think we have a lot to be excited about with the integration of FB and LibreOffice but they have missed and opportunity by not allowing connections to a FB server.
The other thing that I think would get more users excited is something like MySQL Workbench. I know we have FlameRobin but IMHO is Workbench significantly better (sorry).
Once again please do not take these comments as criticisms, I really, really appreciate all your hard work :)
Mike
