Hello Ian,

we are also using Firebird and PHP for web environment. With Redis as
a caching layer for queries. The main problem with it is that you need
a lot of tuning in cache purge time.

We also are too crazy to move DB to the RAM disk - it works excellent
if your server has UPS :)
