I'll cut the long version ... writing it all down did at least focus the mind,
and I worked through the problems. So I'm posting the results for reference.
Moving a legacy application from 2.1.2 to 2.5 flagged up a problem. Basically a
very small database kept locking up under some conditions. Having originated in
PRE Interbase days, the database was still Dialect 1. Recreating it as Dialect 3
has solved the problem and while it would be nice to know why at least stable
function has been restored.
The 2.1.2 UDF is giving an error relating to free_it ... now how DID I compile
that originally :) Must put the notes somewhere I can find them ...
