You should not use the isql commandline options with the CONNECT command.

use:
CONNECT ./Bridge.fdb USER SYSDBA PASSWORD paul;

BTW: Maybe it is the time, but your post itself lacks clarity in the problemdescription. I had to scroll down to your ISQL session to see what it actually was.
