says
"NOTE: If you are unsure which database is best for you, just download the
one with FireBird database support
...
SAM now supports 4 different databases: FireBird, MySQL, PostgreSQL and MS
SQL.
...
*Note: Backup/Restore is not available for all supported database types.
Currently only FireBird and MySQL is supported."
However, when you download the installation guide in Windows help format

they aren't that nice toward us:
"If you are new to SAM Broadcaster and/or databases, we recommend you start
out with FireBird since it is small and very easyto install. More
experienced users might want to look at MySQL, MS SQL or PostgreSQL instead
since they are slightly faster than FireBird and usually integrate better
with websites."
