Hello all,
Why not create a database of registered users of the Firebird database software?
If the Windows installer asked users if they wanted to _optionally_ register as a user to
receive periodic updates about the project (new versions, etc.) there might be a pleasant
surprise of how many individuals would sign up. I think OpenOffice provides this option on
install of their product. Follow-up e-mails could mention benefits of becoming a member of
the foundation. This sort of registration would make some statistics about Firebird usage
more distinct. Instead of X downloads, there would be X registered users.
Obviously the database would be well protected so that someone could not spam it.
Anyway, it was an idea I had and I wanted to pass it on.
Thanks,
Kevin
