Lots of long history. InterBase was funded originally by Apollo
Computer, an early competitor of Sun. Sun has a long and profitable
relationship with Oracle and whenever we tried to get friendly with
them, Oracle would make threatening noises. And now, as Sean
suggests, the MPL license may be less attractive than BSD for
protecting commercial extensions to the product.
