Lester,
I didn't know that there is an "official" logo. (I have now linked
your page from my site). There's nothing on the Firebird web site
about that.
However, it seems that nobody cares about the official logo anyway. As
you can see here

the logo for the Firebird Foundation poster had been modified to get
an "embossed" look.
changing to a new one. It's obviously difficult to enforce a certain
"Corporate Identity" for an Open Source project ...
It's even more difficult when the logos are on private websites
instead of the official Firebird website.
Having access to properly rendered logos is important for the
Marketing of Firebird. I'm constantly trying to "push" Firebird at our
customers and so I use the logo quite a bit.
