I'm about to finish in a year at the Budapest University of Technology
and Economics, and I'm on the lookout for a base I can build a Thesis
on. I'm studying Informatics (Computer Science), specialized in
Infocommunications systems (which more or less means network stuff).
Currently I'm doing research at Ericcson, but the Thesis I could write
there probably won't have anything to do with my future work, so I'm
taking a sniff on available possibilities before I start my research.
I use Firebird, and I like it. Contributing to it would feel a bit
like doing something for my benefit too.
So my question is: is there something that needs research, testing,
that would contribute to the firebird project, and is there someone
who is willing to help me if I need it? (doesn't necessarily have to
do with network comm.) Or give me a link to such a resource.
Skills I use regularly (in usage order):
java (not j2ee yet though), database stuff, php and anything else I
need to use to get something done.
I took a major part in the research of SAMSON, an adhoc-network
address management protocol which was shown at Eunice 2005
(http://www.it.uc3m.es/eunice2005/program.html). This just means I
liked designing a protocol.
I have about half a year for research before I need to start writing
the thesis (in english). And I've got in average 2 to 3 hours per day.
If I did take to helping the project, that would mean 300-450 hours I
could contribute.
