Subject Deploy firebird embedded and client application on usb memory, any thoughts, experiences?
Author Stefan Gustavsson
Hi!

I'm planing on releasing one of our products on a usb memory which would come
with our application preinstalled and ready to run right of the stick.
That would give
the customer opportunity to bring the application with him wherever he
goes just bring the memory and you got everything in place.
Anyhow back to the my question is there anyone that used this approach
before since
you can use DB in read only mode on cdroms and so on but I need write
access also,
anyone with any experiences?

I have tried a lot of things to kill the database (power failure,
application interruption, simply pulling out the memory stick) while
running both heavy and small fast transactions but it stills keeps
chugging when I'm starting it up again (ForcedWrites on) . The only
problem I see so far is that if disk space would be running out, but
a 512mib stick will solve that problem.

Please share your thoughts...

Regards, Stefan
