About 4 days ago, while hopping around the net to find some db related stuff I stumbled upon a comment that Firebird's releases are too far apart. âKinda trueâ, I thought and I went to IBPhoenix.com to see whatâs happening there. The announcement of the day said:
âFirebird 2.0 Beta 1 builds are available for download and testing (including Classic for AMD64 Linux).â
This has been posted on Firebird sites 4 days ago, and still no echo of the fact anywhere else on the net. What's happening with the Firebird PR? To date I haven't seen any mention of the above milestone on any other general database or Linux sites?
On the other hand, when MySQL or Postgress news are plastered all over the place, regardless how minute the details are.
Similarly, about 2 weeks ago Marius Popa posted this on the Firebird General list:
Over a year ago this listâs subscribers were presented with a list of sites to submit a not about on of the Firebirdâs releases. That went well and Firebird mentions started showing up more often. Could we do this on a regular basis any time there are some Firebird news to be announced? Or pehaps there is a purpose in keeping Firebird a pretty damn well hidden secret of the database world?

>It's written in slovakItâs a great article but there is a problem. It is written in Slovak indeed, and as such can be read and understood by a very limited number of people. I was able to go through it with a degree of understanding but (since my native language is not exactly Slovak) only to get a general idea what the main points of the article are. Wouldnât it be great if it was translated into English, and the translation posted on Linuxtoday.com and some other open source related sites?
