An editor from Dr. Dobb's Journal has asked for an
article about Firebird, preferably showing a unique
solution to a common problem. Database events come
to mind. Is there anyone who would like fame and a
the small amount of fortune that comes from being
published in DDJ?

Ann

Here's the correspondence so far...

Hi Ann,
I'm Jon Erickson, editor of Dr. Dobb's Journal (www.ddj.com). We have a
Database Development issue coming up later this year, and I'm very much
interested in including an article on Firebird. I'm hoping you can put me
in touch with an experienced Firebird developer who might be interested in
writing a technical article for DDJ (for which we'd pay, of course). I
don't have a specific topic in mind, but the article would be (as I said)
technical--one developer talking to another, so to speak. It might be a
problem/solution article, or a project article, etc. I apologize if this
note sounds abrupt, but I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks
for your time.
Regards,
Jon Erickson

Ann,
Thanks for your prompt response. Actually, I'm open to either
approach--which ever would make the best article. Is there a unique feature
of Firebird that would be of interest to readers? Perhaps the article could
identify a problem that's general to database development, present Firebird
as a solution, zero in on the particular Firebird feature, describe the
feature, and provide an example (with source code). That's one approach.
Like I said, I'm open to suggestions. Is there an article that you think
should be written?
Regards,
Jon
