Subject Firebird @ Australian Open Source Developers Conference
Author Adam Clarke
Melbourne (Australia) Perl Mongers are organising an Open Source
Developers Conference for Dec 1-3 this year. Since I know that there are
a quite a number of Firebird core developers / heavy users living here
I thought that it would be useful to let you all know. It would be great
to see somone give an "Overview of Firebird" type talk at least. I have
pasted the call for papers info below, of course if someone from another
part ot the world is interested in an Australian holiday at that time of
the year (Summer - very nice beaches etc) then that would be fantastic.

Call for papers
==========

Our OSDC/YAPC call for papers is out! It would be superb to have every
Melbourne PMer present something at the conference. If you haven't
presented at a conference before please consider doing a lightning talk.
This is a brief (7 minute) talk on one aspect of a topic.

I'm certain that we'd be delighted to have you practice your talk at our
regular Perl Monger meetings.

The Call for Papers can be found at:
http://www.osdc.com.au/papers/call_for_papers.html

The important dates are:
Proposals deadline: 28th June 2004
Proposals acceptance: 29th July 2004
Submission deadline: 20th September 2004
Review results: 8th October 2004
Proceedings version: 8th November 2004
Conference: 1st - 3rd December 2004

Not that Firebird is not listed as an official topic, however all that
really means is that we do not have an expert to review the submissions.
If someone who qualifies as expert would be willing to volunteer for
that task then we would be fine.

If you think it is appropriate to post this message more widely to the
lists then please do so.

Cheers
