I highly advise against this unless you are making a real
installer. There are startup scripts and configuration
items. Additionally, your system may not be reflected in
my system and there can be issues.

Better to contact the maintainer of the port and see what
can be done to make that process better

You also are not a trusted authority so there will be no
signature to check etc. Thats another of the reasons
FreeBSD and Gentoo build from scratch, the entire process
is signed.

Anyone who has FreeBSD 4.8+ can simply download the latest
port from www.freebsd.org, type

cd /usr/ports/database/firebird;make install

and they have firebird running. This is not really an
issue about a binary...
